Hi everyone, while I was developing a 4G cell search application, my EC25-E module suddenly started automatically rebooting every 10 seconds. I can no longer use it. Could this be a firmware issue? Where can I find the firmware for this module?
This is the module information when I run the ATI command:
[2025-12-23_08:42:35:761]Quectel
[2025-12-23_08:42:35:761]EC25
[2025-12-23_08:42:35:761]Revision: EC25EFAR06A20M4G
[2025-12-23_08:42:35:761]
[2025-12-23_08:42:35:761]OK
Thanks everyone.

Hi @davide.bassani ,
Thank you for reaching out.
A periodic reboot every 10 seconds is usually not caused by the normal “cell search” procedure itself, but is most commonly triggered by a power supply drop/brownout during RF activity (cell search can still create current peaks, and if VBAT dips the module will keep resetting, often due to insufficient peak current capability, long/thin wiring, weak USB power, or not enough bulk capacitance close to VBAT/GND). Another possible cause is the PWRKEY/RESET line being unintentionally toggled by hardware noise or unstable host GPIO/pull-ups, and in some cases a watchdog reset/firmware crash can occur if the AT sequence or scan loop runs at a very high rate or hits an unexpected condition; more rarely, flash/NV corruption can also lead to a boot-loop behavior.
To isolate the root cause, please try powering the module using a stable supply that can handle peak current with short wiring and sufficient bulk capacitance near the VBAT pins, then re-test with a minimal setup (power + UART only, without your application loop) to see whether it still resets.
In the meantime, I’ve sent you the latest firmware via email, so you can re-flash and verify whether the reboot behavior changes after upgrading.
Best Regards,
Aghelan
