I ran into problems with using VoLTE function on my BG96 MA (R1.0) device.
The current firmware version: BG96MAR03A04M1G_01.003.01.003
Boards Mikroe IOT Click 2.
The symptoms are the followings:
-at+qcfg=“ims” returns 1,1. VoLTE is enabled. All previous APN and PDP contexts
were set up correctly.
-When call is being received by the module the network led starts to quickly blink,
then the call gets terminated.
-When call is being originated from the module, network led starts to quickly blink, and
NO CARRIER response is received.
SMS sending woking very well in PDU, no problems with it at all.
My request:
-I would like to evaluate the newest stable firmware for R1.0.
-I also have ordered new modules BG96 MC (R1.2), for which I would also request the latest
stable version.

Unfortunately the problem still occurs, the module perfectly registers onto the VoLTE service and LTE network, but the service provider terminates the ongoing VoLTE voice calls.
The service provider: Hungarian Telekom (Magyar Telekom)
They have build in filtering to identify M2M devices. And they block VoLTE calls for these domains. That is why NO CARRIER response is received after the call started. Practically the “IMS” PDP context cannot be used right now on this carrier (registers, get multiple IP addresses), despite it is nowhere documented. Data connection and SMS is working. They probably think that voice call should fall back to 2G, however BG96 has no CS support, only PS support is present.
So it is not the fault of the module at all!
Addendum: It is probable that Quectel modules are identified based on there’s IMEI.
