Hello,
we have a product that uses the BG95-M3 to communicate with our server via UDP. Now we have the following problem in the NBIoT network of a swiss network provider: as long as our firmware communicates via UDP with the server, the server can respond (via UDP) to the firmware via the BG95. If our firmware doesn’t communicate and the server sends some UDP packets to the BG95, we don’t get any URC and there’s no data in the BG95’s buffer.
First we thought of a network problem at the simcard or network provider. The simcard provider and the network provider sniffed the communication and now we know that our UDP packets are forwarded into the RAN but the BG95 doesn’t answer.
The network provider indicated that the BG95 sends a UE context release with “user-inactivity” as cause and so the radio tunnel is freed.
First we thought of PSM/eDRX as cause of the UE context release, but the PSM and eDRX is (as expected) turned off.
Do you have any idea what causes the BG95 to release the UE context after three seconds?
We have seen this problem/behaviour only with one provider network.
Thank you for any help in advance!
Attached ou can see the sniff and our PSM/eDRX configuration:
