We’re working with the Quectel BG95 module and have a question about operator selection when using the AT+COPS command in automatic mode.
According to the AT command reference:
AT+COPS=0 sets the module to automatic mode, where the <oper> field can be ignored.
Integer type
0 – Automatic mode.<oper>field can be ignored.
My question is:
When in automatic mode (AT+COPS=0), how does the BG95 determine which operator to connect to?
Does it simply select the operator with the best RSSI (signal strength), or are there other factors or prioritization mechanisms (e.g., preferred PLMN list, roaming agreements, SIM preferences) that influence the selection?
Any insight from Quectel engineers or other developers with experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
