I would like to know more about the BG77 firmware update procedure. Once the delta file has been downloaded, BG77 will start (or not, depending on configuration) the update process.
Our concern is if the update process gets stuck and never ends, so we never get feedback about it. We would then like to power off the modem but when we power it on, modem will try again and maybe get stuck again and we would enter in an infinite loop.
So the questions are:
Can the firmware update process get stuck? Is there an internal mechanism in the BG77 that will cancel the update process and provide feedback about it in those cases?
Which is the average time for a delta firmware update?
Can we avoid that the modem restarts the update process when powered on?
Generally, there is no stuck during update process. but If you are unfortunately stuck in download process, it will be restore to original version after you reboot module. if stuack in updating process, when you reset module, it will continue updating after you power on(or reset).
And about update time, there is no avarage time, because this process depend on network and RAT, for exmaple, The time it takes to download and upgrade in a catm network is less than that in a NB network.
Dear Technical Support,
I am writing to report an issue with XTRA file download failure on my BG77 module running firmware version BG77LAR02A04_01.003.01.003. When I execute the AT command AT+QGPSCFG=“xtra_download”,1, the module consistently returns +QGPSURC: “XTRA_DL”,-1 indicating download failure. The module has normal network connectivity with network registration confirmed (+CEREG: 0,1), PS attachment active (+CGATT: 1), good signal quality (+CSQ: 29,99), and successful ping tests to external servers. While the XTRA feature is enabled via AT+QGPSXTRA=1 and time synchronization is available, The AT+QGPSCFG=? test reveals limited XTRA support with only the following configurations available: “nmea_epe”, “estimation_error”, “xtra_apn”, “xtra_download”, and “test_mode”. The basic GNSS positioning functions normally with AT+QGPS=1. I would like to know if this XTRA download failure is due to the older firmware version lacking full XTRA functionality, or if there are other potential causes, and what would be the recommended firmware version that supports complete XTRA features along with the proper upgrade procedure.
Hi, @Jayyip
This version is quiet old, Please update to the latest version. XTRA should be working. And note that the latest version CANNOT downgrade to your current version.
