I’m in a group of beta testers for the Radtel P90 radio.
This radio contains the EC800M module.
The radio is working in Tennessee, Nevada, and other states, but it refuses to work in California.
A couple of beta testers have experienced workingg radios failing at the state line and not working again until they leave California.
We are wondering if there is an issue with approval of this module and why it won’t authenticate on California cell networks.
Radtel has provided a firmware update ( MCU-AT-YE-EC800M(LALC)-XIN-V1.0.01-2608111723 ) But we are waiting on some equipment to actually connect the the test-pads on the modules with the USB connection.
Any insight would help as California appears to be the only place this radio will not function.
As a follow up, is this module PTCRB certified?

The EC800M module does not have PTCRB certification.
The fact that your Radtel P90 radio works in Tennessee, Nevada, and other states but fails specifically in California strongly suggests a certification-related network authentication problem:

California carriers (especially major ones like AT&T and Verizon) likely enforce stricter authentication checks that require fully PTCRB-certified devices on their networks. Other states may have less stringent verification processes that allow the module to function despite missing full certification.

Additional Troubleshooting Information
a. Using AT+CFUN? to verify the module is in full-featured mode (return value 1 indicates normal operation)
b. Checking AT+COPS? to confirm automatic network search is enabled
c. Use AT+QCFG=“BAND” to verify band configuration hasn’t been modified
