Bad performance EC25EUX on Linux device running OpenWRT

Hi,

i’m using the EC25EUX module on a Linux device which is running OpenWRT.
ModemManager is used for managing the module.
I have very low up and download speeds, only 10mbps download and 0.5 mbps upload.
The EC25 should do 150mbps download speed and 50mbps upload speed.
Changing antenna for more signal does not affect the speed significantly.

What’s the cause of this?

You need to provide some technical details, for example

  • modem operating mode
  • signal parameters
  • band & bandwidth

It’s worth checking the speed using another device (another modem or smartphone) connected to the same cell id on the same band.

Please avoid using pictures.

Operating mode is LTE(4G)

Signal parameters:
“rssi”: -86,
“rsrq”: -12,
“rsrp”: -116,
“snr”: 4.200000

Band & bandwidth:
Band: B8
Bandwidth: 10 MHz

LTE is a RAT, with mode I mean MBIM/QMI/ECM.
RSRP below -115 considered Poor. Try to improve this by changing device location, using proper antenna, etc.
See if you could use potentially better bands like B3 and B7.

Then mode is QMI.

Okay i changed antenna, i had a extension sma cable between it, now the antenna is directly connected to the module. Is it somehow possible to extend the antenna with a shielded cable?
We have the module into a metal control cabinet, the antenna should be wired to outside the control cabinet.

i also changed the band from band 8 to band 3, according to the 4G lte bands of the provider.

Now i have this signal parameters with antenna directly connected to the module without extension cable.

RSSI: -70 dBm

SINR: 13 dB

RSRP: -103 dBm

RSRQ: -12 dB

Still not the 150mbps download and 50mbps upload.

i now have 37 mbps download and 8.68 mbps upload

Forget about this, you will never get these figures with Cat4 modem in real life.

Hi Marc,

Do you still have any issue?
