Anyone got the rework.network HM2U V3 working with their Quectel 5G modem?

Hi, everyone!

I bought one of these rework.network HM2U V3 board+enclosure units for use with my Quectel RM520N-GLAA.
The RM520N works properly in an older rework.network 5G2PHY board+enclosure units, but I have not been able to get the exact same modem to work properly in the newer HM2U V3.

It appears to have trouble in that when the HM2U V3 is attached via microUSB to a Gl-Inet Slate AX travel router via the USB A 3.0 port, it doesn’t seem to detect the modem all the time. Also, when it does detect the modem, it has trouble getting the modem to connect to the network. It acts like the APN is not set for the SIM and only very rarely is successful at getting an IP address.

Note that I am sure that this HM2U V3 had a defective slide switch inside; I had to re-flow the solder to get the switch to work. It is possible something else is broken/defective in the hardware, but for now, I am going to assume that I am missing some configuration option within the RM520N modem. Perhaps it is SIM card detection, perhaps it is USB mode configuration, perhaps there is something else I don’t know about.

Anyway, has anyone gotten the newer rework.network HM2U V3 to work with a Quectel 5G modem, and what did you do to get it to work?

If it turns out my HM2U V3 is defective, that’ll be bad; I’m unable to reach anyone who sold it to me, and they are somewhat expensive.

Thanks in advance!

Dear @dchang0
Sorry about this, we don’t have experience for this.
Hope other guys can help you.
